RSL green lights Chris Doheny’s fundraising song Gallipoli…

Last April 25th 2014 ANZAC Day, hit band Geisha singer songwriter Chris Doheny released his heartfelt recording Gallipoli, in acknowledgement of the many servicemen and women of Australia and New Zealand who bravely served their country in the many conflicts over the last one hundred years.

Gallipoli struck an immediate chord with many people, including some seasoned radio journalists who said upon hearing the song; it brought a tear to their eyes!
Chris’ own father Jack had served in the Royal Australian Navy aboard the HMAS Adelaide during WW11 (It is a war time photo of Jack that Chris used for the single cover) and his grandfather Joseph also served during the battle of Kokoda.
On ANZAC Day 2014 Gallipoli was aired on radio across Australia (and the USA) throughout the day to a listening audience of over two million.

Says Chris “The reaction has been phenomenal! All the money earned from this song will be donated to the RSL, and I want to get that message out there to as many people as possible. I’m sure that if the public realise the money is going to our returned servicemen and women…they might be more inclined to shell out 99cents for a single!”

Explains Chris
“When the Returned &Services League became aware of what I was doing, they immediately wanted to get involved. Tanya Caddies label manager for my company Diamond Dog Records met with RSL Victoria to discuss how they could assist with promoting the song. They gave me their blessing to use the ANZAC Appeal logos and will be screening the video clip on rotation throughout the main RSL branches. Their marketing and communications manager Brad Swain also advised that Gallipoli will go out in all correspondence to members and will be visible in all RSL branches not just for Anzac Day but also for the whole of 2015!”

Chris will perform Gallipoli live this ANZAC Day at Darebin RSL (2-4PM) and Waverley RSL (5-8PM)

Chris’ full length album DOHENY is available on Diamond Dog Records and features the songs Gallipoli, More Than A Game, and many other songs with Australian themes.
